Your routes stay yours
Privacy policy
Effective 20 September 2026
RouteLedger is designed to keep your travel diary private. The developer does not operate a RouteLedger account system, analytics service, advertising system or route-data server.
Information the app uses
With your permission, RouteLedger uses location and motion activity to detect journeys, record route points, calculate mileage, identify meaningful stops, and distinguish vehicle travel from walking or cycling. You can also save place names and coordinates, classify journeys, and enter job names or notes.
Storage and iCloud
Your RouteLedger data is stored on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud database. Apple controls iCloud and its security. Only devices signed in to your Apple Account can access that private database; the RouteLedger developer cannot view it.
Apple Maps
When you review a diary day, stop coordinates may be sent to Apple’s mapping and geocoding services to obtain an approximate address. Apple’s handling of that request is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Exports and backups
If you create a PDF, JSON backup, CSV file or GPX file, the exported file may contain journey details or precise coordinates. You choose where to save or share it and are responsible for keeping it secure.
Sharing and tracking
RouteLedger does not sell personal information, show advertising, track you across other companies’ apps or websites, or share route data with the developer or third-party analytics providers.
Retention and deletion
Data remains until you delete individual journeys, use Delete All RouteLedger Data, remove exported files, or delete it through the relevant Apple device or iCloud controls. Deletions made in the app are synchronised through iCloud.
Permissions
You can change Location and Motion permissions in iPhone Settings. Disabling them limits or stops automatic route recording but does not prevent you from reviewing data already stored.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when RouteLedger changes. The effective date above will be revised. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through the RouteLedger support page.
